Did I tell you the story about why there is a chunk missing from my eyebrow?

I have been forgetting to tell about my eyebrow story. I guess in between corrupting the youth and ranting about Meryl I forgot to write about my eyebrow incident. I usually like to wax my eyebrows myself but its such a donkey show getting all the stuff out and everything, so I have just been using tweezers and my fantastic Finishing Touch tool (see picture). I was going around on the top of one my eyebrows and my hand slipped and it caught part of my eyebrow. I didn't really notice it at first until I looked in the mirror and saw a patch of hair missing in the middle of my eyebrow. DOH! It was more funny than anything, but I started playing with my eye liners trying to cover it up. I came up with something that works pretty well and you can't notice unless you look really close. The problem is that I keep forgetting and I will go to touch my forehead and brush against my eyebrow smudging the cover up. Then today at lunch I was just sitting there and I thought "Did I forget to put my eyebrow on today?" Panic hit. I dug through my purse and found a mirror...whew! that was close, I did remember. I was so relieved to know that I wasn't walking around all morning with a chunk missing out of my eyebrow.
So two lessons have been learned: 1. Use the eyebrow attachment provide to avoid future "mistakes". 2. Always carry a eye liner pencil in the shade of your eyebrow on you at all times. You will regret not having it the days you forget to out your eyebrows on!

Corrupt the the youth

I baked a cake yesterday for my Grandma's birthday so my mom, my uncle and my cousins went over to my grandparent house for cake and ice cream. We were sitting around talking and my youngest cousin, who is 7, came up to me and wanted me to follow her. She led me into the bathroom and wanted me to get her a new bandaid for her finger. I convinced her to use bandage tape instead and we were putting things away in the medicine cabinet and she noticed a bottle of bug spray. For some reason she was excited and asked "Can I take this?" like she wanted to steal it or something. I told her no and that "you don't steal from your grandparents, but steal from strangers." I don't think she heard me but it was just funny. I guess she grows up and starts stealing, I will be responsible.
I did good the night before because we were all in Omaha for dinner and she asked her mom if she could ride in my car back to Fremont. I told her I was going to stop at the store, if that was okay I didn't have a problem with her coming with me. We walked around the store and shopped. She asked if she could get something when I made the mistake of going down the isle with all the toys. I told her she could get something that was $1.99 or less. An hour later, she picked something out. Good lesson learned: My kids wont get to go to the store with me. We had fun listening to the radio, can't help if the only station I can get is hip-hop. She knew most of the songs so she must listen to it anyway. Then she starting going through my purse and putting on my lip gloss and face powder, so she looked all "hookered" out when she got home. I then tried to teach her some Spanish, like I speak it fluently or something! So in the past two days I have probably corrupted her. I think that Education degree I was going for is still a good idea.

One leg at a time

It was really hard to get up this morning. Commuting sucks! I was running late because first off I was putting my pants on and I got them on and I couldn't figure out why they were riding so low in the back. I kept pulling them up in the back and trying to get them to fit right. After spending a couple minutes struggling, I realized I had put them on backwards! That's what I get for dressing the dark (still haven't got around to putting a new light bulb in!). I also had to get gas this morning and hand over my first born child in exchange.
Should be an exciting day!

P.S Happy Birthday Grandma Cobb!

Untitled (no creative juices today!)

Pretty quiet weekend. I am officially beyond broke so that means I spent 99.9% of my time at home this weekend, which was okay since the sun was sitting on the state of NE this weekend. We did decide to take our dog (JAZZY GIRL!) to Petsmart in Omaha because lately she has look beyond bored. I wanted her to wear her princess costume but I was out voted. My mom did treat my brother and I to Sonic and I was excited because they have Jr. Banana splits for .99 cents. I quickly found out you get what you pay for. It was the length of half a banana and maybe 2 inches high. My mom about wet herself she was laughing so hard.
Other than that I finished the 5th book of HP. I will have to wait until next week to buy the 6th book but that's okay, from what people have said the ending is "shocking" and I might not be able to handle it. I also had one blond moment this weekend. We were playing poker and I started making fun of brother because he can't say the word "picture" correctly. So, we started asking each other how they pronounced different words. My mom then asked what do you call a 5 cent coin, while making a little circle with two of her fingers. Well, in my defense, I am a visual person and the size she was making with her hand looked like a dime. So I yelled out "A DIME" before I could process what I just said. Everyone laughed of course and I'm sure it will be brought up again. DOH!

I wonder if there is a FBA (Face Book Anonymous)?

So I have a new addiction. It has been described as being as addictive as heroin or crack. I was good for so long, but after some peer pressure I had to try it once. They say once you try it, there's no going back...and they were right. Before you think I have totally lost it, I'm talking about Face Book. It's a website that students from colleges all over the US can register on and connect with their friends at school and other schools across the US. It's addictive because you can post pictures, update your profile to list every interest you could have in the world, leave messages for your friends on their "wall" and join clubs/groups with interests like yours such as 'Golden Girls anonymous' or 'Bring Back the old school Nickelodeon. Once a friend adds you, you can then look at their profile and look at their friends and then you can look at their friends, friends...and so on. So you can spend hour looking through the site.
I kind of had a 'withdraw' incident today. For some reason my computer was running really slow this morning but I thought nothing of it. I then went to check Face Book and someone had changed their picture so I went to look at it and it wouldn't let me. I tried closing out and looking at websites and all of a sudden no pictures would come up. Slowly, the pages starting getting slower and then not appearing at all. They were having some computer difficulties and I was about to call ITS and offer to buy the latest Star Wars DVD, if they could put a rush on getting the internet back. I wondered what I was going to do all day? We had NADA to do today and if my internet was down then I would have to talk to...dun dun dun...Meryl!
luckily, the workstudy girls started coming in and we were able to find stuff to do. Finally, everything is back to normal and I can go back to checking FB every 10 seconds!

It's a good day except for anything that has to do with a bank

It was a good day this morning because its PAY DAY. I should have known this happiness wouldn't stay long and sure enough it turned to crap! I took one look at my bank account and about fainted. All I'm going to say is I HATE BANKS! Okay, got that out of my system!
Other than the bank mess, it was been a good day. I got to get out of work to go to a meeting with my boss on the new HR system. I think people were only there to find out how the pay system would change. It sucks because if a raise is not state funded then to get a raise your department has to use their own funds to provide the raise...doesn't look like will be coming anytime soon! I did then get a chance to meet with my boss because my 6th evaluations are coming up. She asked me how things were going and I had to tell her about Meryl. I didn't indulge on everything because I am still working on how I want to word her "behaviors" but I was able to bring up some concerns. My mom would be so proud! She said we would talk about it again and she phrased it that she was well aware of what I was talking about. But other than that she said she couldn't come up with any constructive criticism and she was delighted to have me on staff and how they were lucky that I applied for the job. I knew it would be a good day!

New rule!

NEW RULE:
Crossword puzzles are a 'solitaire' activity. Puzzles should not be done outloud, reading every clue off and trying to be funny with answers. I don't want to single anyone out, MERYL, but this has got to stop! Thank you for your cooperation!

My very own camera phone!

I headed down to Lincoln yesterday to help an old (not age wise, meaning previous) boss with training ideas. I was so excited to show everyone my new camera phone. I have always wanted a camera phone but coming up with the funds for it hasn't been so easy. Then one day a light blub clicked on above my head. I went and grabbed my disposable camera, a strip of velcro and my little Nokia phone. The end result is a fabulous camera phone. My phone sticks to the back of my camera. It has the feature of being detatched whenever I don't need the use of the camera. It's surprisingly lightweight and easy to grip. I was so proud of myself and my new invention that when I ran into some friends and ex-coworkers and I asked them if they wanted to see my new camera phone. It was funny to see their reaction when I pulled out my new invention. I don't think anyone knew what to say...all they could do was laugh and make fun of Fremont. I honestly think I could sell this online!

"Have you always wanted a camera phone, but could never afford it? Are you constantly being made fun of because your phone is "so last year?" Well, do I have the deal for you! For $19.95 I will send you your own Do-it-yourself Camera phone Kit. Included are all the materials needed to make your own camera phone including detailed instructions and what to accessories with work with your new camera phone. Be the envy of all your all friends! It makes the perfect gift! Order today!"

Maybe someday... until then, Don't steal my idea!!

Slow day...

Not much to report today...kind of a slow "news" day. I did however:
1. Get to work and found out Meryl would be gone for most of the morning...definate HIGHLIGHT!
2. Realized migraines are evil.
3. See a guy combing his mustach at lunch today...funny!
4. Found out how much I miss reading Harry Potter. I broke down and started reading the 5th book again even though I had to stop last time because Harry was making me mad...don't ask, I guess I have issues with teenagers.
5. Get to take a shower without the fear of ingesting a deadly bacteria.

Told you it was a slow day...

Should my stomach be burning?

Water drama continues. I didn't think it would be this much of an inconvenience! You don't really realize how much you use water in a given day. I decided to cook dinner last night and not thinking, I got all the stuff to make spaghetti. After spending time trying to think of a way spaghetti could be cooked without water, I threw caution to the wind and filled the pot. They said you could cook with it as long as you boiled it first. It tasted okay and I put my worries to the side because if I did ingest some bacteria or whatever, surely it would take a couple hours to reek havoc on my digestive tract.
My dad and brother took the plunge yesterday and showered at home. I did hourly checks to make sure their hair wasn't falling out and there were no changes in body color. So this morning I too took a shower. The entire time I was more worried about ingesting water that I probably used body wash as shampoo. My stomach kind of started hurting this morning, but I think it is all in my head...Hopefully! Other than that, its been quiet at Casa de Arthuro.

Oh pioneer!

Everyone has always told me that I would never make a good pioneer and I've got a good example.
A notice came around last week saying that work needed to be done on the well (our source of water) and the water would be shut off Monday morning and if everything goes as planned it would be back on Monday night. I didn't worry too much because I could still take a shower Monday morning and not be smelly at work. But as I continued to read it stated that the water would not be safe to drink or cook with until maybe Wednesday at the latest! So, I could shower Tuesday morning but what kind of water would I be showering in I wondered?! My mom said it would be okay to shower in, just not drink. My luck I would forget and swallow a bunch! I kind of put it off until this weekend. I made sure ALL the laundry and dishes got done so we could at least be dressed and use the dishes for "non-water" meals. Then Sunday night hit and I began to panic.
I am very particular about my showers and need to take one in the morning. Sunday night I thought about filling every container I could find with water so I could bathe in the sink for 3 day, but that would be silly and I would survive somehow. I woke up Monday morning and enjoyed my last shower. I remembered that Jasmine would need some water so I went out to grab a big container and all the containers were gone. I opened the fridge and saw that my dad and brother had grabbed every container we had, small and large, that would hold water and put them in the fridge. It looked like something we should have done for Y2K. I guess I'm not the only one to have thought of the idea.
When I returned home from work the water was still not on and I began to panic more. My grandparents were nice enough to allow my dad, brother and I to shower at their house last night. I knew I would have a bad hair today and let me check...yep its true! I just hope I'm not going to die because this morning, totally forgetting about UNSAFE TO CONSUME WATER and I totally brushed my teeth using the sink water. GOOOO. I wonder if the the piercing headache I have today is a result...doh!

Waiting for the 4:30 whistle

I am so excited that today is Friday!! I have been putting so much stuff off for the weekend and now I will actually have time to do it.
If anyone is interested (or cares) John C. Fremont Days
(http://www.johncfremontdays.com) are this weekend. Always a good time!
I will leave you with an embarrassing moment: I was grabbing my purse today to go to lunch and noticed that something was stuck to my purse. I looked and it was my lint brush! I have the one with the sticky papers and you peel off a new sheet each time but the handle broke off of mine so there's just this big white tube with lint/hair stuck to it hanging off my purse! And since I didn't notice it until lunch that means that I walked all the way from the parking garage to the office this morning with it stuck to my purse! oh well...
Have a good weekend everyone!
oh, Mom if you are reading this don't forgot to bring Jasmine some snow from Alaska! Also, the dryers fixed so hurry home and get the laundry done! J/K

Memories and a Meryl moment

Had dinner with some friends last night that I haven't seen forever. Throughout the night we reminisced about old times and laughed until it hurt. It was so wonderful to be around people my own age and away from Casa de Arthuro for a night. We ate at Upstream which is fabulous! (Note: the beer is awesome but be aware they charge you .75 cents to sample!) After dinner we decided to hit the town and we ended up at the new outdoor mall. Our first stop was DSW. I had to buy a pair of flip flops because if you remember from yesterday my feet were not happy. The cheapest pair I could find were $11! I am sooo going to be returning them ASAP, but I was as desperate as a housewife. Susie got a big 'ole helping of bad customer service at DSW just asking if they had another shoe without a mark on it. We made our way over to Bed, Bath and Beyond and we all decided we had to go to the bathroom. It so reminded me of being in Jr. High. I started spraying the air freshener, we were being really loud and just goofing off. Gina almost got stuck in one of the stalls in the bathroom and we almost snapped the door off trying to open it.
As we walked through the store, the crazier we got. I had to stop Trudy from flirting with the stock boys reminding her of the ring she had on her finger. (Trudy: don't worry I wont tell Steve, and plus it was in a different town so it doesn't count...j/k!) Trudy and I started playing with the compulsive items up in the front including a really nice, inexpensive back massager, that we think was just as good as the $14.00 one she was playing with earlier. After almost breaking a couple of things and I started laughing so bad that I stopped breathing, I had to leave the store. we finished the night off with a photo session outside of The Upstream. If anyone was looking outside they were probably wondering what the heck we were doing.
The night was awesome! I highly recommend getting together with old friends more often!

Meryl moment: I think she might of had a big glass of "Carnation instant B*@%$" this morning because she is out of control today. For the LOVE!

BOOO to work clothes

Well, I started the day with waking up my mom up at 5:55 when her ride to the airport was going to pick her up at 6am or a little after. It's funny now, but the hop she did after she leaped out of bed was hilarious. I HATE waking up late, but it's actually kind of funny how it takes a minute for your body to catch up with your brain. Other than that, today has been a good day. I made it through lunch without embarrasing or making a ass of myself, but the day is still young.
I got to work today and realized how unhappy and uncomfortable my outfit was today. I wore a suit coat thing and low healed, closed toe shoes when I'm used to wearing long sleeve shirts or sweaters and my "fancy" flip flops. By the end of my first break I had had enough.
So I decided on my lunch break to run over to Target and maybe find another shirt and some cheap shoes. Long story short, ended up just getting a basic white t-shirt and all the shoes were ugly or not appropriate, so I just purchased the shirt. I usually have better luck at Target but I was at one that you might consider "ghetto" and not up to par with the rest of the Targets in town.
I'm still uncomfortable and I had to resort to taping down my insole on my shoe to keep it from coming off. Funny thing is, I don't think my boss noticed I had changed.
I'm looking way forward to tonight because some old friends and myself are meeting up for dinner. Gatherings with people in my own age group have been sparse lately, so I think I am extra excited.
Until tomorrow...thanks for stopping by San Diego! (from Anchorman)

Saturday...Accident free!

First, Happy 4th of July!
I have been recovering from my pretty tramatic end of the week. I have been trying to be safe all weekend, and I managed to be accident free for a day...Saturday(read below). So, the weekend has been pretty boring but there is always today for something interesting to happen.
Things I have accomplished this weekend:
  • Slept in as long as I wanted too
  • Finally cleaned my room long enough to mess it up again
  • Wen to Wal-Mart and didn't spend ANY money
  • Managed to mess up my sunless taning lotion application again...will I ever learn!

and finally...

  • Got hit in the foot with a firework! So the calendar returns back to zero, (http://corngrl2.blogspot.com) and I was doing so good..I did make it through the entire day on Saturday without hurting myself.

Have fun tonight and watch out for the fireworks, they have a mind of their own!

It couldn't happen again, could it? Yep, it could!

So I thought I would be brave today and go back to yesterday's scene of the accident and have lunch. I walked outside and it was even more beautiful today but I was NOT going to repeat yesterday so I sulked as I walked inside. I choose to eat in the food court towards the back facing the window so that no one could see my face, in case someone recognized me from yesterday. I enjoyed my lunch and decided that I would sit outside for the rest of my lunch break and read. I know what you are thinking, didn't yesterday's events occur when she decided to go outside? The answer is yes, but I took that into consideration and thought something embarrassing couldn't happen to me two days in a row...right? I was wrong.
I started packing up my belonging and before I could stop it, I bumped my 20 oz bottle of Mountain Dew and it fell over and spilled right onto my lap. I couldn't believe this was happening to me again. There I sit with pop stained pants in the crotch region and a pool of light green liquid underneath my chair. I shook my head in disbelief and put the rest of my stuff in my bag and waddled to the nearest restroom. Of course the closest one didn't have one of those air hand dryer things, so I had to waddle around the student center, carefully positioning my bag to cover the "accident", trying to find one of those dryers. I finally found one in the handicap restroom, which thank God was a single room, and I could take my pants off and hold them under the dryer. Fortunately, they dried and I called my mom to tell her it happened again. She laughed of course and suggested I call it a week. Agreed!
I was going to make a list today for my blog of the reasons I was glad it was Friday. I think yesterdays events combined with today, would take up the whole list!
